Our journey to Kifune Hiroya was sparked by a friend’s nostalgic tales of growing up in Kyoto. She painted such a vivid picture of dining by the river that we simply couldn’t resist experiencing it ourselves. On a particularly sweltering summer day, we found ourselves following a gracious hostess to a seating area set up right in the midst of a flowing river. It felt surreal, almost like we were embarking on an adventure, drifting down the river.
The Kaiseki meal served was a feast for the palate and a spectacle for the eyes, enhancing the unforgettable ambiance that enveloped us. That lunch wasn’t just a meal; it was an event that left us with deep, lasting impressions.
